XXX Import Meet 2016

Last weekend I attended my first Import Meet at XXX Rootbeer in Issaquah. It was an amazing weekend all around. My boyfriend and I found an apartment in Shoreline (which we signed the lease for already, woohooo!), we attended and shot his aunts wedding, and kicked off the car show season at XXX.

The weather was nice until we got there.

It seemed almost immediately after we arrived it started raining. It wasn't so bad at first, it actually made the cars look better with the light sprinkling of droplets. Then, it started POURING. I've still got to get used to this crazy Seattle rain.

After about an hour with no sign of the rain letting up we decided to call it a day, as did many of the show participants. My boyfriend and I got absolutely soaked from head to toe. Our cameras too! Thank god for weatherproof cameras.

Even with the rain, this was still an amazing experience. I'm so stoked to move  and immerse myself in the West side car scene. I've already met such amazing and supportive people.

Huge shout out to the StanceWars team, Cynthia and Mike, for welcoming me onto the media team. I can't say enough how thankful and excited I am for this opportunity!

I'm totally new to everything, I'd love to connect with more photographers. I need to meet more photographers and awesome car owners. If you are either of those things, get a hold of me! Let's go take photos and go to Starbucks or whatever.

Seattle

2016 is going to be a very good year, I can just tell.

I'm getting ready to move across the state to the Seattle area. I've been wanting to make this move for years now and I'm finally making it a reality.

My hopes for this move is that I will be able to finally get more heavily into automotive photography. Spokane has been great, but it just doesn't have the diversity and the opportunity that Seattle does.

If you're in the Seattle area and you'd like to shoot, get a hold of me. I need to network!

StanceWars

I'm not sure I can even begin to describe how amazing StanceWars was. This was the first real car show I've been to that actually peaked my interests. The first LEGITIMATE car show! I was mesmerized by how many absolutely gorgeous cars there were! I was expecting some nice cars but I was completely blown away.

I didn't really focus on taking photos of the entire car because there were just so many people! I mainly focused on wheels. So. Many. Wheels.

I was in love with how many colorful and intricate wheels there were! I was a kid in a candy store.

They'll be up in the next few days, I know quite late after the show, but I've been taking my time.

Thanks for your patience!

NW Street Car Challenge

I've been working on the photos when I can. My life has been a little busy, I'm still adjusting to having a full time job again!

Big shout out to GrcExposures, he taught me some AMAZING editing techniques that I've been putting to good use! They have definitely cut my editing time in half.

I will not have them all done today like I anticipated, but I should have them finished and posted by Saturday night.

Thank you all for your patience!

Further delays...

As if I didn't already have enough things delaying my final edits of Golden Gardens 2015 and the Tier 1 show last weekend I've got yet another coming. It's not all bad though.

I just ordered a new iMac. My new beast should be here in less than a week so I'm going to try to get as much editing done as I can before I pack up my old computer and start transferring everything to my new one.

I'm extremely excited, though! I've been working off a laptop for a while now and it's about time I upgraded to a desktop.

Golden Gardens 2015

It's been a while since I posted!

Last weekend I attended The Golden Gardens meet in Seattle. A fellow photographer and friend, Garret, and a few others drove over the morning of. We had an amazing time and saw so many beautiful cars!

I'm currently in the process of sorting through and editing all the photos I took. I'm slightly delayed because I also have a few video projects due for school and I just started an internship in a commercial studio!

I've got a lot on my plate but I don't mind at all! The quarter is almost over and I'll have more time to focus on improving my photography!

As of right now I have all photos rated and I'm in the preliminary stages of editing. This is the easy part, the treacherous adventure with Photoshop is just about to begin.

Stay tuned! I'll post some of my favorites as they come.

Easy 2.0

I spent the afternoon with the Easy crew today. They were having a relaxed day in the office making decals.

The guys even printed a logo for their office window. It's visible from the street below!

Night time.

Now that it's getting dark so early I can't always find time to do shoots during the day. I've been experimenting with night time photography. I'm no pro yet, but I think I'm doing okay and learning as I go.

Here's a shot I took of my car around 3am a few days ago. I thought it came out okay for what I was working with.

I also did a little bit of experimenting with long exposures and movement. In the future, I think I'm going to use this technique to create a "moving" background for my subject. I've got a lot of ideas running through my head and hopefully I can execute them!

Easy.

These last few days I had the opportunity to hang out with Chris, the founder and owner of Easy Couture, www.weare-easy.com. Chris is a fascinating person and has such a passion for what he does, it was very inspiring.

I tagged along on a photo shoot he was doing for his upcoming catalog. Chris does all his own photography and editing and I absolutely love his artistic style!

I had a lot of fun being there and I got some good shots of Chris doing his thing.

Enthusiast and Photographer.

I did some experimenting with overlaying narrative audio onto a slideshow of my portfolio. This is not typically a medium I use so it was definitely a learning experience for me. However, I was actually very happy with how it came out.

Portraiture.

Portraits are not something that I typically focus on. Lately, though, I've been working more with staged and candid portraiture. My friend Tanner offered to model for me. Tanner has heterochromia, meaning his eyes are two different colors. He has posed in images for me before so I was comfortable shooting with him.

I found these two photos the strongest.

Tanner Puyleart. Complete set coming soon.

I found a strong contrast between the emotions in the two photos. In the first he has a very inviting expression and a small smirk, in the second photo his look is calm but with no apparent emotion.

Portraiture has most certainly been a challenge for me but I continue to learn from my experiences and critiques.
